Welcome Aboard!
We look forward to meeting you and sharing with you the delights of the beautiful British Virgin Islands; sailing, snorkeling, diving, eating and relaxing aboard our comfortable, spacious catamaran.
Our goal is to provide you with the vacation of a lifetime so please be sure to complete and send in the preference form listing all your likes and dislikes; this helps us to plan a suitable itinerary, to stock the boat with your favorite food and drinks and to ensure that all your preferred 'toys' are onboard.
If you have not sailed on a yacht in the British Virgin Islands before, the following suggestions may help you plan for your trip:
1. Although US citizens used to be able to enter the BVI with a birth certificate and photo identification, passports are now required
2. Travel light - you won't need much! Like the lifestyle, clothing in the BVI is casual. Bring as many changes of swimwear as you can muster and a few pairs of shorts and T-shirts. It is a good idea to pack one light-weight sweater and a pair of long pants as it can be cool on the water at night.
3. This will be an essentially barefoot vacation, but for trips ashore and for the rare occasion when you might want to wear shoes on deck, a good pair of deck shoes or similar attire are handy. Beach shoes, such as 'Teva's, are a must for this vacation as you will need footwear that can handle getting wet and filled with sand.
4. Pack in duffel bags or other soft-luggage as these can be far more easily stored onboard than hard-sided suitcases.
5. Carry your toothbrush, swimming suit and any vital medications in your hand-luggage; if by some unlucky chance your luggage goes missing you'll be able to get on with your vacation whilst the airline traces it!
6. There is a cellular telephone onboard should you need to stay in touch with your family or business.
7. The sun here is fierce and commands respect; mega-factor suncreams are a must, (not oils please as they turn the decks into skating rinks), and we prefer 'paba free' lotions as paba can stain fiberglass. A good pair of sun-glasses are essential as are a couple of sun-hats or visors, (a spare in case one blows overboard).
8. We provide equipment for snorkeling and diving, but if you have your own mask and snorkel it is a good idea to bring it along - to ensure a 'good fit'.
9. Divers please note... (i) Don't forget your dive card!! (ii) if you are planning to include a night-dive please bring a good underwater light as we do not provide these. (iii) The water temperature in the BVI is usually between 75-80 degrees which can feel surprisingly cool at 80ft so if you own a light wetsuit or exposure suit please bring it along. Shortie wetsuits can be hired from local dive operators.
10. We have a selection of CD's, tapes and videos onboard but please feel free to bring a selection of your favorite music.
11. Yes, we can re-charge your camcorder batteries!
12. As with any service industry, the crew of your yacht are more than willing to accept gratuities as a token of your appreciation for their services - 15-20% of the charter fee is customary. The normal weekly charter fee for Liahona is $13,000.
If you have any further questions or if there is anything we can do to make your vacation supremely enjoyable please do not hesitate to contact us.
